I AM THAIS HVID
“I am a coach, lecturer and choreographer, based in Hong Kong.
I constantly invent and engage myself with new ventures, and I like to obsess over these ventures, be it a new physical discipline, creative projects or changing the way I think about the world around me.
“When not working, I enjoy the company of friends, drinking coffee, reading books and playing video games.”
“I perform with my body and I enjoy working with difficult, physical tasks.”
I AM A PERFORMER
My physical expression is inspired by my background in Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Parkour and Acrobatics, all of which I have been practising for over a decade.
I am constantly looking for ways to challenge myself, in dancing; by moving between more classical work and more experimental research and in physicality; by always digging into new disciplines. Currently, I am competing in Muay Thai.
I AM A TEACHER
I set long term goals rather than short terms for my students but always strive to adapt my classes to the given students and situation based on my personal experience, academic studies in physiology and pain science, philosophy and my intuition.
I am interested in how practice shapes theory and vice versa.
“My pieces are cheeky collages of things I find beautiful, terrifying and funny.
“My teaching method is based more on principles than techniques and my classes are playful while physically demanding.”
I AM A CHOREOGRAPHER
My creations are always centered around the people I work with; who they think they are, who I think they are, where those two things meet and the situations that arise when trying to solve problems in a creation.
I like to present something familiar, everything from pop-culture references to societal topics, and then twist and bend it, to make people look at it in a different light.
